Undergraduate Internships
Our undergraduate internship programs are offered from January through June to span the breeding and foaling season in Central Kentucky. Our program has two pathways, internal medicine and ambulatory, both of which are classified as full-time seasonal positions in our practice. These internships provide the opportunity for undergraduate students to expand their general knowledge of equine veterinary medicine while they assist in covering operational needs during the busy breeding season.
Undergraduate Internships
Our medicine undergraduate internship gives students the opportunity to learn from our board-certified internists, flows and senior technicians during the busy breeding season. Most of the caseload will revolve around mares and critically ill foals. Frequent cases seen during this time include post-foaling complications, high risk pregnancies and various neonatal disorders. This pathway is a fabulous way to gain emergency and critical care exposure, and to strengthen technical skills in a fast-paced, didactic learning environment.
Undergraduate Internships
Field Care interns are paired with a single field care veterinarian, hand-picked to match the intern's goals and interests. Field Care interns will gain experience on a variety of Central Kentucky farms, being fully immersed in the equine veterinary activities that make the breeding season in the Bluegrass so unique. This pathway is perfect for students who enjoy individual mentorship and prioritize networking.
